Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
Flint is a keyboard that suggests replies for dating apps. This policy explains what Flint accesses, what it sends to our servers, and what we keep. The short version: we built Flint to do its job without building a profile of you. We do not track you, we do not sell data, and we do not store your conversations.
Who we are
Flint is operated by Big Ape ("we", "us"). If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at antoine@bigape.co.
The account
When you first open Flint, the app creates an anonymous account for you in the background. This account is not linked to your name, email address, or phone number. We use it only to associate your device with your subscription status and to authenticate requests to our servers.
What Flint accesses on your device
- Text you choose to send for a suggestion. When you ask Flint for a reply, the relevant message text is sent to our servers to generate suggestions.
- Your most recent screenshot, only when you ask. If you use the screenshot feature, Flint reads your most recent screenshot from your photo library so it can suggest a reply to what is on screen. Flint does not browse, scan, or upload your photo library. It reads only the single most recent screenshot, and only when you trigger the feature.
- The clipboard, only when you use a paste action. Flint reads or writes the clipboard when you copy a suggestion or paste content into the keyboard. iOS shows its own notification when an app reads the clipboard.
Flint does not log your keystrokes. The keyboard does not record what you type into other apps.
What we send to our servers and why
To generate a suggestion, Flint sends the following to our backend, which forwards it to our AI provider, Anthropic, to produce reply options:
- the message text you choose to act on, and, if you use the screenshot feature, the single screenshot you select;
- your profile details and tone-of-voice settings, which you enter in the app, so the suggestions sound like you.
This is the only purpose for which this content is transmitted. We ask for your permission inside the app before any of this is sent: during setup, Flint shows a screen explaining what is sent and that it goes to Anthropic, and nothing is sent to the AI provider until you agree.
We do not store the message text or screenshots after generating your suggestions. They are processed to create the reply and are not retained on our servers or used to train models.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Flint. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase hosts our backend, anonymous accounts, and subscription records.
- Anthropic provides the AI model that generates reply suggestions. Content sent for a suggestion is processed by Anthropic to return a reply and, per our configuration, is not used to train its models.
- Apple handles subscription purchases and billing through the App Store. We never receive your full payment details.
- PostHog provides product analytics and session replay (see below).
Analytics and session replay
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. This covers product analytics (which screens are viewed, which features are used, and subscription events). It is tied only to your anonymous account, never to your name, email, or an advertising identifier, and it is not used to track you across other apps or for advertising.
Outside the European Economic Area, we may also record anonymized session replays of the app's own screens to diagnose usability issues. In these replays, text inputs and images are masked, and the keyboard extension (where your replies are generated) is never recorded. We do not record session replays for users in the EU and EEA.
You can ask us to stop analytics for your account, or to delete your data, at any time by emailing antoine@bigape.co.
Subscriptions
Flint offers auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through Apple. We receive your subscription status (active or not) so the app can unlock paid features. We do not receive or store your credit card or payment information. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not show third party advertising.
- We do not build an advertising profile of you.
Data retention
Message text and screenshots sent for suggestions are not retained after the suggestion is generated. Your anonymous account and subscription status are kept while you use Flint. You can ask us to delete your account data at any time by emailing antoine@bigape.co.
Your choices
- You can disable Full Access for the keyboard in iOS Settings at any time. Some features that require our servers will stop working.
- You can revoke photo access in iOS Settings to disable the screenshot feature.
- You can delete the app, which stops all data processing on our side going forward.
- You can request deletion of your account data by email.
Children
Flint is intended for adults using dating apps and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age required to use dating services in their region.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
